Join Dr. Jodi Hilty, President & Chief Scientist of the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) to learn more about why the Y2Y region is the world’s last intact wilderness mountain system, an important region for reversing the loss of biodiversity and an important solution for a changing climate. The Y2Y region runs along the spine of the Rockies stretching from Wyoming in the south to the Arctic Circle in the north, 40% of which lies within the British Columbia landmass.
The evening includes a short introduction by Dr. Hilty, followed by the film, The Rockies Wild Corridor: a Maternity Ward for Caribou, which focuses on reversing the loss of biodiversity in the region and tells the story of the ongoing restoration of the Klinse-za caribou herd in northeastern BC by the West Moberly First Nations and Saulteau First Nations and their supporting partners, including Y2Y.
The film will be followed by an opportunity for questions and a short closing presentation by Tim Burkhart focusing on Indigenous-led land protection and the current opportunity to protect the Dene K’eh Kusan area of British Columbia (the biggest, wildest place you’ve never heard of).
